Search within a webpage

You can find a specific word or phrase on a web page on your computer.

  1. On your computer, open a page in Chrome Chrome.
  2. At the top right, select More More and then Find.
  3. At the top right, enter your search term.
  4. Press Enter to search the page. 
    • Matches appear highlighted in yellow. On the scrollbar on the right, yellow markers appear where all the matches are located on the page.

Tip: You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + f (Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS) or ⌘ + f (Mac) to quickly find a word or phrase.

 

To create a link that opens directly to highlighted text: 

  1. On your computer, open Chrome. 
  2. Go to a page with text you want to share. 
  3. To highlight the text you want to share, click and hold, then drag your mouse.
  4. To open the context menu, right-click on the highlighted text.
  5. Select Copy link to highlight
    • If you can’t select this option, this feature may not work for the selected content.
  6. Paste the link anywhere, like an email or message thread.

Tip: To remove the highlight from the text in the linked content, right-click the highlighted text and select Remove highlight.
